High-altitude posts break the assumptions most sewage treatment plants are built on. Diesel and grid power are scarce, spare parts arrive by convoy, and there is nobody free to babysit a plant through a Ladakh winter.
The separation stage needs no electricity at all, so the plant does not fail when the power does. The bio-chamber is set in a frost-protected bunker, keeping the composting biology working through the cold months and keeping the whole installation out of sight and out of the wind.
What the site gets in return is the same thing every other Aquatron installation gets: no sludge to handle, no odour, and a 50-year design life on a technology with 38+ years of field history behind it.
