STP solutions

New STP technology: solid-liquid separation explained

Most conventional STPs mix everything together and then spend energy separating it again. Aquatron does the opposite: it separates solids first, right where sewage enters.

The short answer

About 98% of liquids are separated immediately; solids go to a bio-chamber where natural bacteria convert up to 95% into water vapour and carbon dioxide, leaving a small amount of odourless compost. The technology is patented, European, and proven over 38+ years with 12,000+ installations worldwide and 400+ in India. Figures are indicative comparisons against a conventional STP of the same capacity, not a quotation or guaranteed result. Final design, cost and performance depend on a site assessment.

Buyer questions, answered

How is Aquatron® different from MBBR, SBR and MBR?

Conventional plants aerate and settle mixed sewage, producing sludge. Aquatron separates solids before biological treatment, avoiding sludge handling. See the comparison table on the technology page.

Is it really new?

It is new to many Indian buyers, but the patented European technology has been in use for 38+ years, with 12,000+ installations worldwide and 400+ across India.

What happens to the solids?

They stay in a sealed bio-chamber where natural bacteria convert up to 95% into water vapour and CO₂, leaving a small scoop of hygienic, odourless compost. The chamber rarely needs emptying.

Does the separated liquid need treatment?

Yes. It joins grey water for downstream treatment, filtration and UV disinfection before reuse or discharge.

How long does the system last?

The published design life is 50 years.
